POSITION: Government Relations Program Rep
LOCATION: College Park, MD
DIVISION: Media & Government Relations
RANGE: $44,900 - $58,500 - $72,100
Essential Functions:
The American Institute of Physics (AIP) is seeking an individual who will assist AIP and the Member Societies in their interactions with Congress and other policy makers. The successful candidate will have a special focus and expertise on education policy and in particular science and math education policy. He/She will work with AIP and Member Societies to develop science and math education legislative lobbying goals and will coordinate and implement strategies. He/She will support the gathering and dissemination of science policy information through FYI and other products, ensure visibility of appropriate FYI topics on the Inside Science News, and will work with other GR staff to coordinate lobbying efforts through the Scientists Act web pages. In addition, the position will explore opportunities to support other elements of the Media and Government Relations Division. Qualifications: A bachelor's degree with two to four years experience working for Congress or in federal relations/lobbying for an organization or association based in Washington, DC. The ideal candidate will have experience and knowledge of science and math education policy issue, public policy formulation process, and strong strategic planning and thinking skills. Excellent written and verbal communications skills are required.
