Overview for funders

SOARS stands for Significant Opportunities in Atmospheric Research and Science. SOARS is a four-year, paid summer research internship for undergraduate science, math, engineering, and social science students interested in understanding the atmosphere and using that understanding to improve life on Earth.

SOARS is designed to broaden participation in the atmospheric and related sciences. The program is equal parts research internship, learning community, and mentoring program. SOARS offers comprehensive financial support for summer research as well as undergraduate and graduate school funding for up to four years.

SOARS Evaluation

In 2005, the Ethnography & Evaluation Research (E&ER) group in the Center to Advance Research and Teaching in the Social Sciences at the University of Colorado at Boulder, completed a two-year, in-depth evaluation of the SOARS program.
